The WLI collects personal information about individuals who choose to provide it to the WLI to register for a conference, subscribe to a newsletter or order a publication. This information typically includes the user’s name, title, name of company or organization, business address, business phone and email address. If payment is submitted online, the WLI uses an authorized third party provider to collect and process that information in a reasonably secure manner. The WLI does not store detailed credit card and check payment information.
The WLI’s web servers automatically collect information from users who browse the WLI website, such as Internet protocol (IP) addresses, the general location where the user’s computer is accessing the Internet, browser type, operating system, the average time spent on the WLI website, pages viewed, information searched for and other relevant statistics. The WLI also collects information by using tracking technologies, known as “cookies.” “Cookies” are small text files that a website saves on a computer or mobile device when an individual visits a website. Cookies assist the WLI in enhancing a user’s experience when visiting the WLI website. They also help the WLI understand how people use the site so that the WLI can better serve its members and users.
The WLI is committed to protecting the security of users’ personal information. The WLI uses reasonable security technologies and procedures to protect users’ personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.
Users’ personal data is stored by the WLI on its servers, and on the servers of the cloud-based data management services the WLI engages, located in the United States. The WLI retains data for the duration of the user’s relationship with the WLI, to analyze the data for the WLI’s business operations and for historical and archiving purposes in association with the WLI’s continuing availability of conferences and publications.
